BCTC Unveils Newtown Pike Master Plan

At a press conference on Friday, the Bluegrass Community & Technical College shared the culmination of over one year of work by EOP, Perkins + Will, Urban Collage and m2d Design on the Newtown Pike Campus master plan. The plan outlines the 20-year development of the new BCTC campus that will be located on the current site of Eastern State Hospital. Phase I construction, which includes a new 90,000 sf classroom building, will begin in spring 2011. The master plan, divided into four phases, includes 14-17 buildings on the 48 acre site.

EOP served as the Project Manager for the master planning effort and was responsible for writing the Architectural Design Guidelines in addition to coordination of the entire master planning team.

Luminaries in attendance at the press conference included KCTCS President Dr. Michael McCall, Mayor Jim Newberry, Transylvania University President Dr. Charles Shearer, Governor Beshear's Chief of Staff Adam Edelen, and Councilwoman Andrea James.
